Arcade1Up’s new digital board game table will be available for pre-order in July

Last October, Arcade1Up, known for its officially licensed arcade machines, launched a wildly successful Kickstarter for the Infinity Game Table, which allows you to play digital versions of many table games like checkers, chess, Monopoly, and Scrabble on a large touchscreen. If you missed the Kickstarter, soon you’ll be able to buy the Infinity Game Table for yourself – it’ll be available for pre-order exclusively at Best Buy starting July 17.

Arcade1Up says the Infinity Game Table will offer over 40 games for free at launch, and you can download them by connecting the table to the internet. And it’s not just board games – you can also download things like a puzzle app, coloring book app, sudoku app, and word search app.

Arcade1Up also plans to make new applications available down the line. Two games you can expect are Pandemic and Ticket to ride, although you will have to pay for these when they become available. (However, both will be free for Kickstarter contributors.)

You play games with up to six different players on the Infinity Game Table (as long as a game supports that many players), and because the table connects to the internet, you can also play online with friends . During a briefing I played Battleship online against an Arcade1Up ruler, and we traded moves almost exactly as you would expect. (I was solidly defeated because I am really awful to Battleship.)

The table is available in 24 inch and 32 inch screen sizes. I tested the 24 inch model and it is comparable in size to a small but tall coffee table. The 24-inch version has huge bezels, but that’s not really a bad thing, as you can place a glass or bowl of snacks in it without covering the screen. The 32-inch model, pictured at the top of this article, appears to have smaller bezels.

You can remove the legs of the Infinity Game Table if you want to use it on the floor or other surface. But if you want to take the Infinity Game Table to another room, I warn you that it is quite heavy. The 24-inch model weighs 46 pounds and the 32-inch model weighs 60, so it’s not exactly easy to lug around.

One thing we don’t yet know about the Infinity gaming table is the cost, and it could be pricey. Arcade1Up said The edge that a final price has not been determined with Best Buy, but the Kickstarter of the table could give us an idea of how much you might have to pay – and it will probably be in the hundreds of dollars. The Kickstarter lists an MSRP of $ 599 for the 24-inch model and an MSRP of $ 799 for the 32-inch model.

If you’re looking for a digital way to replicate a board game night, Arcade1up’s Infinity Game Table might be what you’re looking for. It has a big screen (whichever model you get), there are plenty of games to play for free, and the ability to connect to the internet means you can play with friends if they have a table too. But the potentially high cost could be prohibitive, and we won’t know how much you may need to set aside until a price is announced.

If you’re interested in the painting, mark your calendar for pre-orders on July 17th.
