Learn to play ROCKETEER game and save the future
Here has Nerdist we like two things: The Rocket (it deserved better) and two player table games. We’re all for big group games, but sometimes it’s nice to just grab a buddy and dive in. Funko Games’ The Rocketeer: the fate of the future brings together the things we love with its hero vs. villain gameplay and gorgeous art inspired by the 1991 Disney movie. In the most recent How to play, host Becca Scott guides you The Rocket step by step board game.
You can choose to play heroes or villains. The Rocketeer, aka Cliff Secord, leads the group of heroes, which includes Cliff’s girlfriend Jenny and airplane mechanic Peevy. The infamous Hollywood actor Neville Sinclair is the leader of the villainous group. This includes henchman Lothar and gangster Eddie Valentine. The goal of each group? To secure all the planes of the jet pack and make movements to acquire points as the game progresses.
As you can see in How to play, this battle for plans (and the future!) is being played out on The Rocket‘s Los Angeles locations. Designed by Prospero Hall for Funko Games, the art deco imagery is stunning. Make sure you appreciate the details on each location and also on all maps. Each location has certain advantages that will help you gain the upper hand. You move around the different spots on each turn. And while it’s your turn, you play any cards you want and choose from the abilities or actions of the cards. Maybe you will fight and try to knock out your opponent. Or maybe you’ll try to steal the blueprints.
Players only have a limited number of turns to score as many points as possible. Once the zeppelin reaches Los Angeles (which the topical maps dictate), the game is over.
