Library News: Week of April 3, 2022 – The Globe

WORTHINGTON – The Nobles County Library, 407 12th St., Worthington, has temporary new hours, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The Adrian Branch Library, 214 Maine Ave., Adrian, is open 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

New books for adults: “French Braid” by Anne Tyler, “The Wedding Veil” by Kristy Woodson Harvey, “Here & Hereafter” by Tyler Henry, “Fear Thy Neighbor” by Fern Michaels and “Recovery Agent” by Janet Evanovich.

New children’s books: “Oona and the Shark” by Kelly DiPucchio, “Nana Loves You More” by Jimmy Fallon, “Tall Girl Is Coming to Visit You” by Lisa Tawn Bergren, “Nobody Likes the Easter Bunny” by Karen Kilpatrick and “Potty Time With Pete the Kitty” by Kimberly and James Dean.

Spring Book Sale: Our Spring Book Sale will take place April 25-30, during regular business hours, on the main level of the library. Come and browse a variety of adult fiction, science fiction and non-fiction books, young adult books, paperbacks, children’s books, audiobooks, CDs and DVDs. Watch for the bag sale this weekend! Book sales are open to the public, not just library card holders.

Minnesota State Parks Library Pass: Now that the weather is starting to feel more like spring, remember that there are two Minnesota State Park Passes that allow free admission to our State Parks. These passes are available to Nobles County residents through the Adrian and Worthington Libraries, until the program expires on June 30.

Passes are checked and valid from Wednesday to the following Tuesday. A Plum Creek library card is required and an adult must pick up the pass. Book your pass in advance now. (Limit of one reservation every 30 days please)

Monthly Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Club: The April meeting is cancelled. The next meeting will take place on May 11 in the program room of the library. Call 295-5340 or email [email protected] to register.

Registration requested at the library or by calling 295-5340. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the library and must be picked up by 5 p.m.

  • Monday: Just Gurlz for girls in grades 5-9, after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • Tuesday: after-school program (K-5), after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Story time for toddlers and preschoolers, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Thursday: after-school program (K-5), after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • April 11: Wii U for students in grades 5-9, after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • April 12: After-school program (K-5), after school until 4:45 p.m.

Screenless Saturdays: The Adrian Branch Library is hosting Screen-Free Saturdays every Saturday through May 21 (excluding holiday weekends). Kindergarten through eighth graders are encouraged to get out of the house and play games from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the library. Bring your favorite board game or play the one available at the library.
