Spurs star Son Heung-min reveals he loves LoL and now fans want a Faker squad
Son Heung-min, a professional football superstar who plays for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, surprised League of Legends fans by revealing he is playing the game.
League of Legends has been one of the most popular competitive games for over a decade. So it’s no surprise that a number of famous people, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, play the game from time to time.
Now the League’s 115 million monthly players can add another big name to the list: Tottenham Hotspur superstar Son Heung-min.
The talented footballer enjoys testing his skills on Summoner’s Rift when he has time, keeping him busy at home.
In an interview with Pro: Direct Soccer, Son admitted that he would rather stay home and play games like League of Legends during his downtime than go out.
“I actually stay at home most of the time,” he said. “[I’m] like a homeboy. I like to play games. I love to play League of Legends. However, he can only play a “little bit” due to the commitments of being a professional footballer.
He also revealed that his teammate and other player Dele Alli continues to try to convince him to join the others to play Call of Duty.
However, that wasn’t enough to stop him from playing Riot’s MOBA hit.
Fans try to guess what role he plays. It seems they’ve settled into the idea that he’s a mid laner, and if that ends up being true, the Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok comparisons are too easy to make.
In fact, the two appeared side-by-side in an Xbox Game Pass commercial that aired in South Korea. And because of that, people are salivating at the idea of seeing them team up on Summoner’s Rift.
They also laughed at the thought of him getting blasted by toxic players on the server – especially on EU West.
Interestingly, Son isn’t the only soccer player who plays soccer. The legendary Ronaldo Nazario even got started. However, it was part of an event, so it’s reasonable to assume that Son is playing it more.
Either way, any time Son decides to hang up the boots at Tottenham, a streaming career could be waiting for him on the other side. And if that happens, there’s always a chance he’ll team up with Faker. But we’ll have to see how it goes.
