The Leduc Old Blades season is coming to an end with a successful return to competition

The Leduc Old Blades men’s hockey league is having a great season after playing only 10 regular season games in 2020-21. After a 20-game regular season, all eight teams are in the playoffs, with two weeks until the league finals and awards banquet taking place on Saturday, March 19.

“This is our 49th season, next year will be our 50th so I hope to make it a great year. This year we are looking forward to hosting our end of year banquet for the first time in two years” , said Old Blades President Jay Cole.

Coldwell Banker’s Derek Olson leads the league with 18 playoff points (10 goals, eight assists), to go with his 59 points in the regular season. Corey Schwab of the Righand Distillery Shooters is tied for second with 12 points (four goals, eight assists) with Cam Ross of Coldwell (five goals, seven assists).

Alice Embroidery’s Clint Webber is 4-1 in the playoffs with an .876 save percentage, while Coldwell’s Dave Sharrat is undefeated at 4-0 (.889 save percentage).


Through five playoff games, the standings look like this, with two games remaining to determine which teams will compete for Finals A, B, C and D, respectively, on March 19:
